The MATRIX digital approach
MATRIX arthroplasty combines replacement of a worn joint with digital tools for planning and support of the surgeon.
It is a digital approach to reconstructive orthopaedics, using three-dimensional technology in knee and hip replacement.
MATRIX aims to organise the workflow of knee and hip replacement surgery by combining digital information with the surgeon's experience and skills.
The approach is presented by Dr Stavros Alevrogiannis and his colleagues. Preoperative planning connects with the selection of tools for the surgical procedure.
Clinical and imaging assessment is used to consider the patient's suitability. Digital modelling and selection of prosthetic material follow in three dimensions. The plan is presented and discussed with the patient through specialised glasses. The surgeon selects the technique and corresponding system in relation to each patient's anatomy, needs and expectations.
Three stages of care
MATRIX connects technological tools with the individual steps of care, from preparation to postoperative monitoring.
In MATRIX knee and hip replacement, digital tools are used in the preoperative stage, support the surgeon during surgery and connect with monitoring recovery after the operation.
Preoperative preparation
Preoperative digital tools support the surgeon with:

Technology during surgery
